Backups, Failover & Disaster Recovery for Getvisibility Deployments

At Getvisibility, our K3s-based software product is deployed on customer-owned hardware or virtual machines, with customers responsible for maintaining the infrastructure. Customers should implement their own solutions for failover and disaster recovery.
Automatic backups of configuration and data are created using MinIO console included with our product, on regular intervals. If you want to know more, please visit Backup and restore or reach out to Support. Additionally for business continuity, here is some recommendations:
1. Machine-Level Backups
Use system-level backup solutions to regularly capture snapshots of the entire machine or virtual machine (VM) that runs the Getvisibility software. Tools like Acronis, Veeam, or Bacula can ensure that all critical data and system configurations are backed up, stored securely offsite, and are quickly restorable in case of system failures.
2. VM Snapshots and Replication
For virtualized environments, VM snapshots or replication mechanisms provided by hypervisors such as VMware or Hyper-V are essential. Regularly snapshot the state of the VM to allow quick restoration if a failure occurs. Consider remote replication to a geographically distant data center to enhance disaster recovery plans.
3. Failover with Load Balancer
To achieve high availability, customers can configure a load balancer to distribute traffic between primary and secondary deployments of the Getvisibility product. If the primary deployment experiences downtime, the secondary deployment will automatically take over, minimizing disruptions. While synchronization between deployments is not yet supported, we are available to provide best-effort assistance for transferring historical data if needed.
Disaster Recovery Planning
Implement a disaster recovery strategy involving regular offsite machine backups and failover plans. Solutions like Azure Site Recovery, VMware SRM, or AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery can help create robust strategies tailored to your environment. These systems replicate data and infrastructure components to different geographic zones, ensuring data safety and quick recovery.
